World Series Game 6: Astros vs. Brave’s score, live updates, as Atlanta aims for the first title since 1995

The Atlanta Braves are approaching their first World Series championship in 26 years. The Braves, who stepped in Tuesday night with a 3-2 league advantage, have a big lead against the Houston Astros in Game 6 of the 2021 World Series thanks to homers from Jorge Soler and Dansby Swanson. The Astros, who came back in Game 5, need another comeback if they want to force a Game 7. How to watch game 6.

Houston started rookie righty Luis Garcia (11-8, 3.48 ERA) on short rest, and he looked great in the first two innings of Game 6, though things worked out in the third. Soler literally knocked a three-run homer out of the ball field with two outs to give Atlanta a 3-0 lead. Atlanta’s lead became 5-0 as Swanson took reliever Cristian Javier deep into the fifth inning. Freddie Freeman added an RBI double later in the fifth to make it 6-0.

As for the Braves, de facto ace Max Fried (14-7, 3.04 ERA) started Game 6 with an extra rest day. Michael Brantley inadvertently stepped on Fred’s ankle at a first-base game in the first inning on Tuesday, though Fried shook it off and remained in the game. He escaped a two-mod, no-out situation in the first.
