Sweden gives an injury update on Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof

Sweden have confirmed that Victor Lindelof only suffered a ‘minor injury’ in Manchester United’s training session.

Lindelof made Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s starting lineup for United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday, but he was a remarkable omission from the Reds’ travel squad for Tuesday’s match against Atalanta.

“We look okay, the training session this morning a few small plugs, but I do not think there will be anything bigger,” Solskjær said at his press conference before the match, and Lindelof’s omission from the squad suggested that he was one of those players.

Sweden’s manager Janne Andersson has now confirmed this, before he also revealed that Lindelof only got a ‘minor’ blow.

“I spoke to Victor yesterday. He was not worried. It is a minor injury,” Andersson told Fotbollskanalen.

“There we are, and then you never know. But he was not worried that way, so that conversation felt good.”

Lindelof started alongside Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane in a back three against Tottenham at the weekend, so in his absence it looks like Solskjær could move Luke Shaw into one of those roles instead with Alex Telles as left wing- back.

Lindelof is Sweden’s captain and several World Cup qualifiers await later this month.
