As more “Rust” crew members continue to detail their concerns with the production, one in particular has spoken out against assistant director Dave Halls.

In a lengthy revelation about the conditions in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the film was shot before it stopped after the fatal shooting of a film photographer Halyna Hutchins, a digital supply technician named Jonas Huerta admitted to feeling “anxious” on the set because of Halls’ alleged fast pace.

“I also feel anxious about the set, I’ve seen ours myself [assistant director] rushes to get shots and he skips important protocols, “Huerta wrote in his email to the LA Times.

The digital technician went on to claim that there were other cases before Alec Baldwin firing the gun that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza, making him feel insecure about Western genre film set.

Speaking of Halls, Huerta said: “He often rushes to shoot, I have had more than a few occasions where I have been close to the weapons that were fired without regard to my hearing. Sometimes he rushes so fast that props [department] has not even had the opportunity to bring earplugs, and he rolls, and the actors fire anyway. “

An attorney for Halls did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.

Dave Halls was one of four people who handled the gun on October 21, the day of the shooting, law enforcement said, along with Baldwin, Panzer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and Props Master Sarah Zachry.

On Monday, Halls broke his silence on the matter and offered a statement to New York Post.

“Halyna Hutchins was not only one of the most talented people I have worked with, but also a friend,” he said. “I’m shocked and saddened by her death.”

The filmmaker continued: “It is my hope that this tragedy will cause the industry to re-evaluate its values and practices to ensure that no one is harmed through the creative process again.”

Halls gave no details on what he thinks could be reformed or how changes could have helped avoid what happened on the set of “Rust”.

In addition, he said he is “overwhelmed by the love and support”, adding that his “thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Halyna.”

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said last week that there was “some complacency” in how guns were handled on the set. Investigators found about 500 cartridges of ammunition – a mix of blanks, dummy cartridges and presumed live cartridges – though the set’s firearms specialist, Gutierrez-Reed, said real ammunition should never have been present.

Gutierrez-Reed said through her lawyers that she did not know where the live rounds came from and accused the producers of unsafe working conditions.

Monday, Halls’ attorney Lisa Torraco appeared on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” and first said that Halls “absolutely did not” hand the loaded gun to Baldwin, though he later withdrew and avoided questions about the case.

When further pressed, the lawyer said she has spoken to some crew members who remember Gutierrez-Reed giving the weapon to Baldwin, while others remember seeing Halls pass it on to the actor immediately after getting the weapon passed on by Gutierrez-Reed himself.

According to an order from the authorities, Baldwin was presented with the firearm by Halls. An order stated that Halls handed the gun to Baldwin and declared it “cold,” an industrial term meaning the weapon was not loaded with ammunition, including blanks. According to the Associated Press, referring to the application for the search warrant, Halls was unaware that there were live rounds inside the firearm.

The gun Baldwin used was one of three that Gutierrez-Reed had placed on a wagon outside the building where a scene was being rehearsed, according to court records.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident and said it was “too early“to comment on potential allegations during a press conference on Wednesday. However, Sheriff Adan Mendoza has since referred to the department’s efforts as a”criminal investigation. “

“I would be wary of using the word ‘accident’,” Mendoza said during a performance on Thursday “Fox & Friends.”

“This is obviously a tragedy and it could have been avoided, so right now it’s a criminal investigation.”
