A father in New York City survived a Halloween nightmare after averting a trio of armed robbers posing as trick-or-treaters and trying to force their way into his home where his 8-year-old son was.

The incident, which was captured on video, happened around 10:30 p.m. on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay neighborhood on Oct. 31, New York City police said.

The video shows the man opening his door and giving the two disguised people candy as the man pulls a gun and tries to force himself into the home.

While the father was fighting to keep the armed uninvited guest out of his home, the woman ran down the stairs and fled the scene eastbound on Nostrand Avenue, police said. Another man can then be seen on video running up the stairs and trying to push himself past the victim.

The father was eventually able to fight both men, push them outside and lock his door. The two men then fled eastward toward Nostrand Avenue, police said.

After the incident, a neighbor told the victim’s 8-year-old son that his father is “Superman”.

“I told him your dad is a hero, your dad’s Superman, he knocked two guys out,” Missy Haggerty told WNBC-TV.

Police are still looking for the trio. Authorities described the suspects as two dark-skinned men and a fair-skinned woman.
