Northridge participates in Cold-Weather Donation Drive

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment launched a fundraiser Monday to collect items in cold weather for the homeless across Los Angeles.

The Agency’s Solid Resources Citywide Recycling Division will collect donations of new and gently used blankets, sleeping bags and socks. All donations will be distributed throughout the month by city staff, said Heather Johnson, primary PR representative for the sanitation department.

The drive continues until the end of the year.

Donations can be handed in from 9.00 to kl. 4pm on weekdays at any of the designated locations, which are in Los Angeles, Northridge and Sun Valley. Northridge Place is at 8840 Vanalden Avenue.

Last year, the city collected 2,500 carpets, Johnson said. She said last year’s drive went really well and this year the department hopes people will come out and donate at the same pace.
