Iowa DNR identifies man shot and killed while hunting



Hunter was shot and killed just south of Lake Red Rock. Today. It happened around 245 this afternoon at the Red Rock Wildlife Management Area. The Iowa DnR’s says the hunter was likely shot by another member of the hunting company who participated in a deer ride. This is where hunters try to get the deer to move out of their hiding places. DNR reminds hunters to treat each firearm as if it were loaded, always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, no, your intended target and its surroundings and do not touch the trigger on the gun until you are ready to fire. Iowa DNR identifies man shot and killed while hunting

A 37-year-old man from Iowa was killed while hunting deer over the weekend. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said Nathan Allen Sharpnack of Winterset was shot Saturday afternoon while hunting with a large group of people in the Red Rock Wildlife Management Area north of Knoxville, Iowa. Officials said Sharpnack was likely shot in the torso by a member of a large hunting company. Investigators from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are assisting the state agency in investigating the shooting. An autopsy will be performed on Sharpnack.
