GUS RUNS THE BUS
Coach DJ Smith has already stated that goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson will start against Wild. He was solid as a rock in the club’s 4-1 win over Stars Friday in Dallas. Gustavsson is playing with a lot of confidence right now. He has a record of 2-1-0 this season with a 0.932 save percentage and an average of 2.23 goals. Yes, it’s a tough back-to-back, but Gustavsson is used to this kind of schedule. He has a record of 7-2-2 in his NHL career and a save percentage of 0.933.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE WILD
1. The Wild come after a 4-1 loss on the road to the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. Winger Kirill Kaprizov, who signed a $ 45 million five-year deal the day before training camp, has not lived up to expectations. The winner of the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s rookie-of-the-year last season, Kaprizov has been kept goalless in six games. Yes, he has six assists, but he was signed to that deal to put the puck in the net. It has to start happening.
2. Defender Alex Goligoski, who has an undisclosed injury on a daily basis, has been cleared of contact and was on the ice with Wild Monday. Coach Dean Evason told reporters after the club’s skate that he had to talk to doctors and Goligoski to see if he is able to return. The fact that he was able to become physically involved means that Golgoski cannot be completely ruled out.
3. The senators have a lifetime of 6-5-1-1 at the Xcel Energy Center. But Ottawa have lost four in a row in the Minny headline as the teams meet for the first time this season. Ottawa’s last victory in St. Paul and against Wild were on March 31, 2016 in a 3-2 victory. The Senators have lost eight directly to Wild on their way into this one. The last time the two teams met, Minnesota scored a 7-2 victory on November 29, 2019. Ryan Suter had a career-high plus-5 rating that night.
