WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WSVN) -A woman in Florida who was released from the hospital after a fight with COVID-19 came home to discover that her husband had died of the virus.
Lisa Steadman described the scene to Fox 13 when she discovered her husband, Ron.
“It was like going into a horror movie and I wish I had never seen him like that because I can not get that picture out of my head,” she said.
Ron had been diagnosed with COVID-19 at a walk-in clinic a week and a half earlier. At first, his case did not seem serious, so he was sent home with some medicine to recover.
However, the virus took a tougher toll on Steadman, and she was hospitalized.
“I thought I was going to die. I could not breathe. I could not help but vomit, ”she said. “It’s like you do not have bones in your body. You can not move. You’re just so weak. ”
Fox 13 reported that after about a week, Steadman was talking to her husband on the phone when he said his phone was not charging. The following day, she called him but she could not get through, so she called the police and asked them to do a welfare check.
When they arrived, Ron seemed to be ok.
But two days later, when Steadman was released from the hospital, she found her husband dead inside their home.
“They say he died of COVID-related problems because they know he had COVID,” Steadman said. “They do not know if he had a heart attack from COVID or if he had an embolism. They do not know. ”
Steadman told Fox 13 that neither she nor her husband had been vaccinated, but after reviewing this, she plans to get the vaccine.
