DC Police are investigating deadly southeastern shooting

WASHINGTON – DC police are investigating a deadly shooting in the southeast.

According to a press release from DC Police, the shooting happened in the 1800 block of Gainesville Street on Saturday, October 30th.

When officers arrived just before 7:45 p.m., they found a man who had been shot. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services took the man to a nearby hospital for help, but he died of his injuries two days later.

Police have identified the slain man as 28-year-old Cecil Morris. Investigators say Morris had no fixed address at the time of his death.

Police have not released any suspicious information at this time.
