Covid-19: India registers 41,157 new cases

India reported 41,157 cases of Covid on Sunday with 518 deaths in recent hours.

Of all States and Union Territories, Kerala reported the highest coronavirus infections with 16,148, followed by Maharashtra with 8,172.

Cumulatively, India reported 3,11,06,065 cases of which the total active caseload was 4,22,660, those who recovered were 3,02,69,796 and the death toll was 413609. Also, the recovery rate has increased to 97.31 percent with 42,004 patients recovering in the last 24 hours to 8:00 a.m.

A spike in active cases was seen in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Kerala, Nagaland and Odisha. Also, only two states of Maharashtra and Kerala reported more than 100 casualties, 124 and 114 respectively.

In addition, the weekly positivity rate remained below 5 percent, currently at 2.08 percent, and the daily positivity rate at 2.13 percent, less than 3 percent for 27 consecutive days.

Meanwhile, India has conducted 19,36,709 tests on the previous day and the total number of tests performed has so far increased significantly to 44.39 crore.
