Biden struggles with ‘pandemic of unvaccinated’

WASHINGTON (AP) – Two weeks after celebrating America’s near “coronavirus” independence, President Joe Biden presents the worrying reality of rising cases and deaths.

He also faces the limitations of his influence in combating the persistent vaccine hesitation responsible for the summer decline. Cases of COVID-19 have tripled in the last three weeks, and hospitalizations and deaths are rising among unvaccinated people.

While rates are still sharply down from their highs in January, officials are concerned about the reversing trend lines and the consequent unnecessary illness and death. And cases are expected to continue to rise in the coming weeks.
