Anthony Martial’s expensive Manchester United salary could, of course, be a stumbling block if he pushes for an exit next year.

According to Eurosport, United have made it clear to Martial to pack their bags and leave Old Trafford in January.

The Frenchman is apparently no longer part of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s immediate plans, as he has only started once during this period.

Even without the presence of Marcus Rashford or Daniel James to contend with, Monaco’s former student is currently not part of the equation.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the Old Trafford chain of command is willing to let the 25-year-old leave in the next transfer window.

However, removing Martial from the roster may not be that easy.

Crochet for Anthony

Eurosport says his £ 250,000-a-week salary is likely to be a turn-off for potential suitors.

They also suggest United aim to sell the striker for around £ 40m.

This would earn the Red Devils a profit of £ 4m. From the original fee of £ 36 million.

Again, this can be seen as an unreasonable figure for a player who last scored a club goal back in February.

Damage issues can also ward off potential buyers.

Despite United’s position, the Eurosport state of Martial still has ambitions to make a general claim on the side.

Still, his hopes will understandably fall if he is continually overlooked by the leader.

Thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s return, Mason Greenwood’s form and the need to get Jadon Sancho fired, Martial may be waiting a little longer for his opening.
