All roads in Gray-Bruce will be closed today, according to the OPP.
The OPP West Region communications center announced in a tweet at about 11 am that all roads in both counties would close due to poor weather and bad driving conditions. It was not immediately clear when or for how long.
Environment Canada issued a blizzard warning at about 11:30 am for the Bruce Peninsula, southern Gray County and southern Bruce County, with areas of near zero visibility, snowfall accumulations of five to 10 centimeters possible and winds gusting between 70 and 80 km / h through the afternoon.
Lake effect snow has developed over Lake Huron and is moving over the area. Heavy snow, blowing snow and strong winds will continue into this afternoon, according to the blizzard warning, posted to the Environment Canada website.
A snow squall warning was issued at about 8:30 am for Owen Sound, The Blue Mountains and northern Gray County. It warned of periods of intense snowfall, with blowing snow continuing into the afternoon.
